Scope and contact

This notice describes the static journal and its browser-based tools. Contact [email protected] with privacy questions or a request concerning information you have sent.

Reading the journal

The supplied site code contains no analytics, advertising trackers, third-party embeds or visitor accounts. Pages, scripts, styles and image references are served locally. Like other web services, the hosting infrastructure may process IP addresses, request times, requested URLs and browser information to deliver pages and protect the service. This static code does not determine the hosting provider’s log retention.

Your draft remains in the browser

The story composer creates text in the current page. It does not send form contents to a server or save drafts in localStorage. Reloading or leaving may discard your work. Your browser may independently restore form entries according to its own settings.

Copying places the draft on your device’s clipboard. Downloading creates a text file on your device. Other applications, shared-device users or synchronisation services may have access to those copies according to your device settings.

Optional local preference

If you save a preference on the Cookies page, the site stores the value under rgr-cookie-preference in this browser’s localStorage. It is not a unique identifier, is not transmitted by the site script and does not activate tracking. You can change it on that page or remove it through your browser’s site-data controls.

When you email us

Emailing is a separate action in your email application. Your message may include your address, chosen name, sources and other information you provide. Correspondence may be used to evaluate a story, answer a question, correct an article or manage a rights request. Email providers process messages under their own arrangements.

Send only information relevant to your request. Do not send identity documents, private records or another person’s sensitive information. A submission is not an automatic instruction to publish your name or private contact details. Publication and attribution should be discussed where appropriate.

Retention and requests

Correspondence should be kept only as long as reasonably needed for the issue, editorial records, legal obligations or a dispute. This notice does not promise a fixed deletion interval for hosting or email systems. You may request access, correction or deletion of personal information you supplied; applicable rights and exceptions depend on the law governing the request.

Provide enough context to identify the correspondence without sending unnecessary sensitive documents. No website or email system can guarantee absolute security.

External links and changes

Linked organisations operate their own sites and privacy practices. Following a source link takes you outside this journal. This notice may be revised if the site’s actual processing changes; the effective information will be updated here.
